I am glad that you found your way to my website!
My name is Bastian Reker and I am a Ph.D. student (M.Sc. Geosciences in 2010) in Muenster (Germany). I started photography about 2 years ago (2009) with my first digital camera, a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ 28 (Bridge). This camera was something like the starting point of my passion for photography.
Although I was still a beginner in photography and although it is just a hobby for me, I bought at the beginning of 2010 my first DSLR - a Nikon D700. Since then I experimented a lot with different ways of photography (Available Light, Nature, macro photography etc.) and just started to work with the options of flash photography.
The reason for doing this is quite simple: reading the book “The hotshoe diaries” from Joe McNally I realized that a flash is really not a tool which should not only be used in case of emergency - it is something which gives you thousands of options to make your pictures look different from other photographers. Available light is a nice thing, but for creative photography it is just the starting point you have to deal with.
My first steps taken in this direction you can see in the Portrait-Album.
